Our Mission
PidginToEnglish was created with a simple goal: to build the translation tools that Pidgin and creole language speakers deserve. Over 200 million people worldwide speak some form of Pidgin or creole, yet these languages have been largely ignored by mainstream translation platforms.
We started with West African Pidgin — covering Nigerian Pidgin (Naija), Ghanaian Pidgin, and Cameroon Pidgin (Kamtok) — because these are among the most widely spoken yet least documented creole languages on the planet. Nigerian Pidgin alone has over 75 million speakers, making it one of the most spoken languages in Africa. Yet until recently, there was no dedicated translation tool for it.
Since then, we've expanded to cover 14+ creole and pidgin languages across West Africa, Central Africa, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and Southeast Asia — from Jamaican Patois and Haitian Creole to Tok Pisin and Singlish. Each translator is built with AI that understands the unique grammar, vocabulary, slang, and cultural context of its language.
We believe that language preservation starts with accessibility. Every time someone translates a Pidgin phrase, looks up a word in our dictionary, or contributes a new term, they're helping document and preserve these vibrant languages for future generations.

We work closely with native speakers across Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and the wider diaspora to ensure our translations are accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate. Our dictionary is community-driven — anyone can suggest new words, and our editorial team reviews each contribution before it's added.
PidginToEnglish is an independent project. We're not affiliated with any large tech company or institution. We build this because we believe these languages matter and deserve proper digital tools.
